The Music City RYC & RJCC is recognized as one of the top Regional events in the country. We have made a commitment to hire the best referees and tournament staff, provide the best awards, and create the best environment for the young fencers attending our tournament.
Important Reminders: We will NOT accept entries at the door. All registrations must be completed via USA Fencing registration website.
All events will be separated by gender to comply with USA Fencing qualification paths unless there is only one fencer of either gender. In that case the men's and women's event will be combined in that age group.
You MUST have proof of age (copy of birth certificate or passport) and proof of current US Fencing competitive membership to compete (if your USA Fencing membership card is age verified; proof of birth date is not required). Fencers who are registered in events that overlap may be required to fence multiple bouts in a row in order to keep the tournament running on schedule, and if it cannot be done efficiently, they may be required to withdraw from one of the events at the discretion of the BC. We may not have an equipment vendor at the tournament, but we will have some general items available for purchase. Y10 events require #2 size blades.
Tournament has been sanctioned by USA Fencing. USA Fencing rules and regulations are strictly enforced.
The U.S. National Team Armourer (Kathy Walters) will return again to run our equipment check at the armory table, which will include mask, mask cords, gloves, body cords and lames prior to competition per RYC/RJCC requirements. Equipment Check will be open on Friday, November 22nd from 6pm-8pm.
Complete uniforms are required. You MUST wear a plastron. All female or male foil fencers wearing a chest protector are required to wear the new approved chest protector cover. Fencing uniforms cannot have any rips, tears or holes. Long socks are required.
Times listed are the close of registration time. Doors will open at 7:00 A.M. Equipment Check and Registration will open at 7:00 A.M. Fencing should begin approximately 15 minutes after the close of registration for each event, but in some cases may be delayed further.
Tournament Format: Tournament format will be a pool round with bouts to five points, used to establish seeding to the direct elimination (DE) table. DE bouts will be conducted as follows: Y10 events: 10 point bouts (two 3-minute periods with a 1-minute rest between periods or when one fencer reaches 5 points; whichever comes first), and for all other events: 15 touch bouts (three 3-minute periods, with a 1-minute rest between periods).
Awards: We will have custom die-cast and engraved medals (top 8 finishers), large engraved metal trophy cups, along with other great gifts.
Withdrawal/Refund Deadline: All withdrawals must be received in writing by 11:59:59pm on Wednesday, November 13th, 2019. Registration and administrative fees will not be refunded, but event entry fees will be. Please include fencers name, membership #, events in which they are withdrawing from, and reason for withdrawal (not required).
