COVID-19 PROTOCOLS

At Sword Masters we appreciate the fencing community that has put their trust in us not only deliver an incredible fencing experience, but to do so in a way that’s safe for them and their families.

I want to take this opportunity to share with you how Sword Masters is committed to safely operating the Orlando Challenge at one of the largest sport venues of it’s kind in America.

Over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic Sword Masters Club has worked diligently alongside health experts, sports industry leaders, government officials and fellow fencers, coaches and referees to make our already strict health, safety and cleanliness standards even stronger. We have developed a comprehensive, state of the art plan for everyone participating in the Orlando Challenge to follow and are committed to keeping you informed of the steps we’re taking to keep you safe. Without question, we want to provide our fencers with incredible and inspirational experiences; but we also want you safe when you’re here. This tournament is subject to Florida state laws and orders regarding COVID-19. We will adhere to such laws as they apply with changing circumstances. To such a purpose we are taking every step to keep everyone safe and have developed some Covid-19 guidelines, requirements and protocols. We ask that you read these carefully.

Health Measures

  • The Orlando Challenge venue counts with 24 touchless hand sanitizer stations throughout the complex mounted to the walls for your convenience.
  • A state of the art health room with an athletic trainer on site during all events.
  • Restroom attendants for men and women’s bathrooms.
  • Temperature Screening
  • When anyone arrives at the Orlando Challenge, they must undergo and pass temperature screening using the CDC temperature recommendation.

Face Coverings

  • Anyone inside the venue must wear face coverings at all times. Attendees are not required to wear them while eating and drinking, or outside the venue.
  • Face masks will be sold at the venue for anyone who may have forgotten theirs.

Physical Distancing

  • The Orlando Challenge is fortunate enough to have partnered with a remarkable venue, with almost 170,000 square feet total area, The Big House is one of very few of it’s size and quality in America! We have the space to make this event memorable and safe!
  • To promote proper physical distancing during the tournament, we have signage and markings in the hallways to identify appropriate physical distancing.
  • Seating areas, in our uniquely enormous venue, will be modified to maintain physical distancing while still providing a great view of the tournament. No alternative seating is allowed in the venue.
  • Fencers may be accompanied by one individual on strip (a parent/guardian or coach) who will receive a special wristband per event. No additional family members or spectators are allowed on the floor, we invite them to watch from the designated viewing areas. The number of accompanying adults permitted inside the venue will depend on the situation at the particular time and the number of people in the venue. If the current health situation changes by the time the event happens, and more spectators are allowed to come, we will promptly notify all the registrants.
  • We ask that coaches and parents refrain from shouting or screaming at fencers in order to avoid the spread of any droplets or particles.

Private viewing rooms A limited number of private, exclusive viewing rooms on the tournament floor will be available for hourly rental for one family at a time. These include a window with a view to the event, a flat screen TV which will be broadcasting the event and has a private refrigerator and couch per room. The ultimate experience of comfort and safety. Please inquire about pricing and availability at ryc@swordmastersclub.com and reserve your private room.

Cleaning & Sanitation To protect the health and safety of our guests sanitization of the building was done with a fogging system. The entire building, chairs, backboards, rims, nets, and common areas have been disinfected. This process will be repeated before the Orlando Challenge.

Sick Policies We kindly ask you to stay home if you are feeling sick.

COVID-19 Training Everyone working at the Orlando Challenge will receive COVID-19 specific training to cover all operating procedures. The training will include the most current guidance from the CDC and other health advisors.

Enhanced cleaning protocols will be implemented at arrival areas and for high-contact surfaces. We are implementing contactless registration and facial recognition systems to keep you safe.

Live tournament results and tournament progress will be posted on www.fencingtimelive.com

Given the size of our venue and the quality of organization of the Orlando Challenge we know this will be a safe, joyful and organized tournament that promises to be memorable for fencers and their families.

Of course, Covid-19 is a situation that’s changing all the time - we will continue to monitor the latest information from health experts, local, state and federal authorities and USFA and make the necessary changes to keep you safe and informed.

We look forward to serving you at the Orlando Challenge, the happiest (and the safest) tournament on Earth!
