Welcome to the FAIRFAX CHALLENGE SYC/RJCC & Non-Regional Y8, the signature Fencing tournament of Region 6, and in the US.

All JR and CDT events are rated events, so you can earn classification at these events. Additionally, If you are in Region 6, you can earn regional points.

• Fencers competing in SYC events from ALL Regions will be able earn points and, should they qualify with those points, be able to sign up for Summer Nationals at regular fees
• Fencers competing in RJCC events from Region 6 will be able earn points and, should they qualify with those points, be able to sign up for Summer Nationals at regular fees

The Venue

• Fredericksburg Expo & Conference Center, 2371 Carl D. Silver Parkway, Fredericksburg VA
• 80,000 SQ FT that can fit more than 40 grounded strips with plenty of room to allow for social distancing

IMPORTANT INFORMATION (Subject to Change) - Read Carefully

• This tournament is subject to Virginia state laws and orders regarding COVID-19, including assembly of persons AND is also subject to USA Fencing regulations regarding COVID-19 at Regional Events
• COVID Test and Vaccination record is not required, but if you feel sick, please Do Not Come
• COVID-19 Protocols will be implemented throughout the whole tournament. There will be no exceptions. IF YOU CAN'T COMPLY DO NOT REGISTER
• If the tournament is cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns or by the order of USA Fencing, a full refund will be issued to all fencers except for admin fees. Equipment Check will be open on Thursday May 12th from 4 to 6PM and all other days from 6:30AM
• Fencers are advised to wash their clothes each day before they come to tournaments. Armorers have the full right to decline checking unwashed or uncleaned equipment
• All events will be capped, and entry is on a first-come first-served basis - NO EXCEPTIONS. Once the tournament has filled to the capped amount, a wait list will begin. When an athlete withdraws from the event the next person on the wait list will then have 48 hours to officially register for the event and pay event fees.
• Concession will be open at the venue.
• During Pools, NO parents, coaches, or spectators are allowed in the coned off Fencing Zone. NO EXCEPTIONS. You will still be able to watch from outside the barrier, but only fencers can cross the barrier in to the strip area. However, only one coach or adult can enter the Fencing area to assist a fencer during DE bouts ONLY. Coaches during the DE’s will stand behind the strip AT ALL TIMES and will be instructed not to approach the referee, the fencer, or enter the strip enclosure at any time during the bout. During the 90 second break, the fencer can approach the coach/adult at the end of the strip. Violators will be subject to a Group 3 penalty for "Disturbing Order". Fencers, please relay this information to your coach or your parent if he/she will be acting as your coach during DE.
• Fencers must stay behind the strip at all times, except when fencing.
• Fencers are not allowed to touch the scoring machine, weights, shims, remote and scoresheet. Fencers are not required to sign the score sheet or DE slips. They can check the results at www.fencingtimelive.com instead and report any error to the Bout Committee
• Fencers to refrain from shaking hands after bouts
• When you have finished fencing in your event, please gather up your belongings quickly and leave the building immediately. You may not stay and socialize
• Anything left at the end of the day (Lost & Found) will be thrown out. No Exceptions
• Monitors to display pools or results. Check live tournament results and tournament progress at www.fencingtimelive.com
• There may be additional instructions related to COVID-19 safety measures. We will keep this webpage updated and we will send a mass email to all participants with all instructions prior to the tournament.

• Y8 = 2013-2016
• Y10 = 2011-2014
• Y12 = 2009-2012 (or on Y10 NRPS)
• Y14 = 2007-2010 (or on Y12 NRPS)
• CADET = 2006-2009 (or on Y14 NRPS)
• JUNIOR = 2003-2009 (or on CADET NRPS)

Check-In

1. Venue opens each day 6:30AM. We recommend arriving at least 1 hour before close of check-in.
2. Proof of current USA Fencing membership, current FIE license, or foreign federation membership must be presented. If a fencer is not a member yet, or membership has expired, the fencer must complete and pay for USA Fencing membership at the door.

4. All fencers must have a USA Fencing membership card or a clearly legible copy to use the Auto Check-In feature.
5. Fencers to present proof of age: Original or copies of birth certificate, passport or driver's license, unless if the USA Fencing membership card has "Birth year is Verified " is noted on the card.
6. Fencers must check in everyday they compete.
